AEROSPACE APQP + PPAP · PRACTICAL READINESS

A PPAP folder can look complete.
Make the readiness decision defensible.

Build six connected records for aerospace APQP and PPAP: requirements, design, process controls, validation, submission and changes.

For supplier quality, process engineers and NPI leads who need to expose the evidence gap before a launch decision.

Try the first lesson Try the worked decision

Practical training based on official public IAQG guidance and original fictional cases. Not a complete AS9145 requirements course or delegated approval qualification. Original fictional practice; actual operational authority stays with your organization.

THE WORKPLACE PROBLEM

The risk hides between the records.

A drawing changes, the work instruction keeps the old limit, a capacity figure counts gross output, and an upload is mistaken for approval. A tidy index can carry all four mistakes into the same launch meeting.

The learner's job is to make the source, actual result, uncertainty and next authority clear enough for a competent reviewer to decide.

What you need coming in

Read a simple product requirement and calculate a ratio. No customer drawing or confidential/export-controlled data is needed. For real work, obtain the applicable controlled standard, customer rules, permitted evidence and actual decision owners.

LABELED FICTIONAL WORKED EXAMPLE

Is this production plan ready?

Orion Ridge has one serial machine: 450 scheduled minutes, 30 minutes break, 20 minutes changeover, and 2.0 minutes per bracket. Demand is 210 accepted brackets in that same shift. No extra machine or time is authorized.

Reveal the capacity check and decision

450 − 30 − 20 = 400 processing minutes. 400 ÷ 2.0 = 200 theoretical gross brackets per shift. Even with zero rejects, demand exceeds capacity by 10. The short trial and a good FAIR cannot remove that gap.

Defensible next step: record the shortfall, obtain a feasible authorized plan, and verify the revised conditions. Hold the unsupported readiness claim.

What changes if trial first-pass acceptance is 96%?

The 200 figure remains theoretical gross capacity. A forecast using that yield would be an assumption, not a full-shift demonstration. It cannot make accepted capacity reach 210. The course keeps observed results, projections and actual acceptance separate.

REUSABLE OUTPUTS

One connected readiness pack.

RECORD 4

Validation and capacity evidence review

Intended production configuration / run and trace; Product results and FAIR status / scope limits; MSA method, conditions and acceptance authority. Keep the actual owner, uncertainty and next check visible.

RECORD 5

PPAP submission readiness index

Part / drawing / revision / submission reason; Applicable PPAP elements / customer instructions; Evidence IDs, revisions and approved storage locations. Keep the actual owner, uncertainty and next check visible.

RECORD 6

Change and ongoing-performance handover

Approved baseline and actual production configuration; Change / trigger / source / affected product or process; Affected evidence, risks, sub-tier and customer obligations. Keep the actual owner, uncertainty and next check visible.

Six original CSV worksheets and matching manual Course Hub drafts. These are planning/review tools, not official IAQG forms or signed PPAP declarations.

Learn it, challenge it, use it.

Each module pairs a source-based situation, a visual contrast, a decision, feedback, a reusable output and a reflection. Practice includes evidence tracing, a dialogue choice, record classification, calculations and written recommendations.

Thirty meaningful labs, six required reflections and seven original captioned explainers with transcripts. Four to six hours is a planning estimate; real completion time, enjoyment and workplace transfer have not been measured.

MODULE 1

Plan the right scope and decisions

APQP is a life-cycle planning approach, not a form completed at the end. The official guidance describes five phases that connect planning, design, process development, validation and ongoing production. Activities can overlap; a milestone label does not establish that the underlying work is complete.

MODULE 2

Control product definition and the design handoff

Product identity and design responsibility connect the project plan to the process. A plausible summary, a newer date or a prototype result cannot silently change a controlling requirement.

MODULE 3

Connect process risks to real controls

The useful chain is product requirement → process step → risk → prevention/detection → control/reaction → work instruction. A matching title across files does not establish the chain.

MODULE 4

Validate the product and the production plan

Product conformance, measurement fitness, process performance/capability and production capacity answer different questions. Keep them separate before deciding whether the combined evidence supports readiness.

MODULE 5

Assemble and review the PPAP submission

PPAP is an output of the planning and validation work. The index should expose the evidence and the unresolved decisions rather than hide them behind a completion percentage.

MODULE 6

Sustain the evidence through change and feedback

APQP continues into ongoing production and post-delivery feedback. A controlled handover keeps actual configuration, performance definitions, change obligations and lessons linked to the right owner.

Support keeps authority visible.

Your Academy course includes practice Coach Q, six manual records, a study plan, focus timer and Apply at Work tracker. Use the tools to record your practice and permitted workplace application. Automatic document drafting is off for this course; independent assessment receives navigation-only help.

Assessment and human review

Final assessment: 30-question exam, 24 correct to pass, three attempts and a 24-hour wait after a failed attempt. Thirty labs and six reflections first. A separate case and six reasoned decisions use disclosed criteria; a justified hold can receive full credit.

Independent work is marked against the disclosed rubric and decision criteria. No fixed review turnaround is promised. Feedback and another case attempt are included when revision is needed; three case versions rotate. Contact will@qmslearning.com for review questions or appeals. Completion records are issued only after the course requirements are met; they grant no accreditation, sector qualification or operational approval authority.

Free lesson, access and purchase terms

Try the real first guided lesson before buying: enter your full name, email and phone, then verify your email. The free lesson uses the Academy player and server grading; further lessons require enrollment.

Lifetime access to purchased lessons, with no recurring subscription. Coach Q currently permits 40 requests per rolling 24 hours and six per minute; availability can vary. Automatic document drafting is unavailable for this course. After three failed exam attempts, contact support for an individual review of reopening; another attempt is not automatic.

Individual Academy purchases: request a refund by emailing will@qmslearning.com within three days of purchase. A refund ends access and invalidates any completion certificate for the refunded course. Other Orders may differ. Read the refund policy. Five or more seats in one checkout receive the Academy’s 10% team discount. For organizational terms, use team quote / PO.

Questions before you enroll.

Does this replace a copy of AS9145?

No. The full standard was not obtained. The course teaches practical readiness through official IAQG public guidance and original cases. Actual compliance decisions need the applicable controlled standard, customer supplements and qualified authority.

Does it teach automotive PPAP or certify an approver?

The scope is aerospace APQP/PPAP readiness. No automotive submission level, sector scoring table, accreditation or approval delegation is invented.

What if my company is build-to-print?

Identify the actual design owner, evidence interfaces and agreed applicability. The course teaches how to expose those questions; it does not give an automatic design-evidence waiver.

Can a learner pass by recommending a hold?

Yes, if the assigned evidence and authority justify it. A polished but unsupported approval is a worse answer than a precise gap/action record.

Prepare a manager request

Leave with a better review question.

What is supported, what is still missing, and who can authorize the next step? The six records keep that decision visible from project planning through production changes.
