WHY THIS BECOMES YOUR PROBLEM

The difficult part is deciding what the evidence allows.

You can read a number correctly and still accept the wrong revision. A passing sample can sit beside an unresolved material identity. A current calibration label can belong to the wrong tool for the feature. A blank box can tempt someone to invent a check.

These mistakes leave the next inspector guessing and the release person exposed to a decision the packet cannot support. This course teaches one connected method: locate the actual requirement, check the measurement, preserve identity, control the discrepancy and state the real next gate.

Know when to stop

Recognize an unresolved requirement, unfit gage, unsupported disposition or missing release evidence. Keep a hold specific and useful.

Explain the next valid step

Give production and shipping the affected identities, needed evidence and actual owner. A hold should move work toward resolution.

Leave a trail someone else can follow

Keep the true reading, source, revision, decision and change history together. A polished form cannot replace performed work.

The supplied training instruction accepts the cosmetic sample at zero or one nonconforming unit. The observed count is one. But the goods show heat H17 and the certificate shows H71. No clarification is supplied.

Make your call, then reveal the reasoning

The cosmetic sample decision passes that instruction. The lot’s heat identity remains unresolved, so hold the dependent release and obtain valid clarification through the actual process.

One result does not repair the certificate or prove every unmeasured unit good. The discrepancy also does not prove counterfeiting. Name the actual uncertainty and the person who must resolve it.

What would make “just sign it” the wrong answer?

A signature cannot create missing evidence or confer authority. Record the actual sample result, preserve the affected lot identity and route the open gate to its owner. Do not invent a reading, inspection date or customer permission.

The sample instruction is original training fiction, not a Z1.4, Z1.9 or AS9138 plan. It must not be adopted for production.

Each module connects three short lessons to five varied labs and a coached reflection. Classify inspection stages, read original gage images, calculate limits and sample rates, trace evidence, respond to shipping pressure and prepare a usable record.

Seven original narrated explainers have captions and transcripts. Image/video gage practice stays online; it does not demonstrate actual contact force, alignment or hands-on skill. About six hours of lessons and practice is a planning estimate, not a measured completion time.

Independent assessment and feedback

Finish 30 labs and six reflections, then take the 30-question course exam: 24 correct to pass, three attempts, a 24-hour wait after an unsuccessful attempt and no enforced countdown. Personal notes and a calculator are allowed; AI answers and drafting are not. Further access after three unsuccessful attempts needs support review.

A separate unseen fictional case and six reasoned decisions are reviewed by Will Trikha. The case needs 16/20, decisions need 10/12, and no critical evidence, authority or release error may remain unresolved. The approved outline commits to case marking within five business days, with one resubmission after written feedback. The exam’s 45 minutes and case’s 90 minutes are planning estimates.

A defensible hold can earn full credit. A completion certificate records course achievement; it does not award an employer stamp, prove hands-on competence, qualify an NDT operator or confer ASQ certification.

CQI PREPARATION · CLEARLY BOUNDED

This course supports selected ASQ Certified Quality Inspector exam preparation, mapped to the public 2025 CQI Body of Knowledge. It is a focused inspection course, not complete CQI exam preparation or an ASQ-endorsed program.

Math and metrology practice

Decimal tolerance limits, span, unit conversion, a micrometer reading, sample percentages, and supplementary mean/median/range practice. Gage fitness, calibration and prior-result impact are covered.

Inspection practice

Stages, drawing/revision control, traceability, an original sampling instruction, nonconformance, preservation, record integrity and authorized release.

Visible gaps

Further algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, advanced GD&T, the full instrument range, sampling-plan design, test methods and quality-system topics require further study. Physical gage competence is not assessed.

You should be able to read a simple drawing and work with decimals. Use our fictional records when workplace data or permission is unavailable. This is not a complete GD&T, calibration, NDT or first-article qualification course. Your employer controls actual task competence, authorized methods and the stamp register.

What the sources support

Selected inspection-related provisions were checked against the owned AS9100D September 2016 standard. Original explanations also use public IAQG guidance, NIST measurement/sampling guidance and ASQ’s public BoK. The paid standards and their tables are not redistributed.

Full AS9146, AS9138, Z1.4 and Z1.9 requirements are excluded. Customer procedures and numeric limits are not generalized from one brand to another. Actual contracts, controlled sources, decision rules and authorized people govern workplace use.

Why pay when I can read a checklist or ask AI?

A checklist names steps. This course makes you decide from conflicting records, distinguish evidence from assumptions, and keep a useful output. Fresh independent work and human feedback test your reasoning. That design does not guarantee measured workplace improvement.

Will this qualify me as an inspector or give me a stamp?

It records assessed course completion. Your employer decides the task competence, practical demonstration and authorization needed for actual work. It is not ASQ CQI certification.

What if a hold is the right decision?

A justified hold can earn full credit. State the affected scope, source, unresolved evidence, actual owner and next check. Inventing approval to reach a green status is a critical error.

Is a real gage or an in-person partner required?

The course uses video and images. A calculator is helpful. Actual handling skill is outside this online assessment and needs your workplace’s approved competence process.
