Review Audit Evidence with AI

The AI wrote the summary. You have to defend the finding.

Learn to check what AI missed before its summary becomes your audit conclusion. Work through incomplete records, conflicting evidence and convincing claims—then build a review trail you can explain to an auditee, your audit lead or a customer.

For internal and supplier auditors, quality professionals and audit leads who already understand the basics of auditing.

  • About 3.5 hours
  • Six modules + practical labs
  • Coach Q included
  • Human-reviewed case

Start free. Lesson 1, with Coach Q, no card.

The summary says no issues. Check its evidence before you agree.

JUDGE THE EXPERIENCE YOURSELF

Start with a claim that sounds finished.

In the free first lesson, look at the proposed conclusion, work out what the evidence must cover and make your first sampling decision. Use Coach Q to question your reasoning before you commit to the full course.

The actual guided lesson. No payment card required.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

The summary is ready. The evidence review isn’t.

You are still accountable for the conclusion when AI helps prepare it. An unsupported finding can send people into unnecessary corrective action; an unsupported “no issues” can leave a gap unexamined.

01 · THE WRONG TIME WINDOW

“The spreadsheet says everything is current.”

But your audit covers last quarter. A register exported today may leave the date of use, earlier revisions or missing items unresolved. You need to establish what was true in the period you audited.

02 · THE WRONG CONNECTION

“There’s a citation, so it must be right.”

The file exists, but it may belong to another person, device or job. A polished sentence and a real filename can still support the wrong claim.

03 · THE WRONG CONCLUSION

“We didn’t find the record. Raise a finding.”

Missing documentation may establish a records gap when the criteria require it. It does not automatically prove that the work never happened. The distinction changes what you report.

04 · THE MISSING TRAIL

“Can you show how you reached that?”

If you cannot recover the source, scope, checks and human decision, you may have to reopen the review. Your audit lead or auditee needs a chain of evidence they can follow.

WHAT CHANGES FOR YOU

Walk into the review with a position you can explain.

The goal is practical confidence grounded in evidence: knowing why a conclusion is supportable, and when more work is needed.

Know what you can stand behind.

Separate supported, contradicted and unresolved claims. State the limits of the sample rather than letting fluent wording imply coverage you never established.

Give the team a useful next step.

Turn “something looks wrong” into a specific record request, observation or interview. Give an auditee a finding tied to an applicable criterion and verified evidence.

Make your review repeatable.

Bring back a linked set of templates your team can adapt to approved work. Keep source references, unresolved questions and the reviewer’s decisions together.

SEE THE METHOD

A current certificate doesn’t answer every audit question.

This is the habit the course develops: inspect the relationship between the claim, the criterion and the original evidence before accepting the wording.

FICTIONAL TEACHING EXAMPLE · NOT AN EXAM ITEM

One claim. Three dates to check.

Audit question
Was device G-104 within its required calibration period when used on 8 April?
Register export
12 May · device status shown as current
Certificate supplied
Calibration performed 2 May

The AI writes: “G-104 was within calibration when used.”

WHAT WOULD YOU CHECK?

Can that conclusion stand yet?

A later certificate does not, by itself, establish the earlier status. It also does not prove the device was out of calibration on 8 April.

Open the review reasoning

Trace: confirm the device identity, use record and applicable calibration requirement.

Investigate: seek the prior certificate and any relevant controls or records covering 8 April.

Conclude: record what the evidence establishes. If the earlier status remains unknown, state that limit and the follow-up. Raise a finding only when the criterion and verified evidence support it.

WHAT YOU BRING BACK

Six audit records. One connected review.

You build these through practice and can adapt the templates to your organization’s procedures. Workplace application uses only information you are authorized to process.

01

Risk-based sample plan

Which population, locations and period are in scope? Why these records?

Document the selection rationale, coverage and limits so another auditor can understand the sample.

REUSABLE
TEMPLATE
02

Approved extraction brief

What may AI process, and what must it leave undecided?

Define the permitted records, fields, data boundaries and required handling of missing information.

REUSABLE
TEMPLATE
03

Traced claim ledger

Which original record supports each statement?

Link claims to record IDs and exact fields; mark them supported, contradicted or unresolved.

REUSABLE
TEMPLATE
04

Observation and interview plan

What cannot be established from the export alone?

Name the gap, the corroboration needed and the person or place to follow up with.

REUSABLE
TEMPLATE
05

Findings worksheet

What requirement was not met, and what proves the gap?

Connect the criterion, verified evidence and gap statement without inventing cause, intent or impact.

THE ACADEMY, WORKING WITH YOU

Support while you practise. A trail when you apply it.

No separate AI subscription is required for the included Academy tools. Use follows the Academy’s published access and usage terms.

COACH Q · ILLUSTRATIVE PRACTICE EXCHANGE

You: “The AI cited a certificate. Is that enough to use its conclusion?”

Coach Q: “Check that the identity, period and requirement match the claim. Which exact field supports the statement, and what remains unknown?”

Coach Q is your AI quality and compliance colleague for practice. You check its advice against the evidence and retain responsibility for the conclusion.

Keep the work in one place.

  • Course Hub + Documents: six subject-specific tools help draft the review records from facts you provide. Inspect and revise every draft.
  • Study plan + progress: break the course into sessions and see what remains.
  • Focus timer: record study sessions as you work.
  • Apply at work tracker: record an authorized application, the checks you actually performed and the follow-up.
Practice support has a boundary. Coach Q provides navigation only during independent assessments. Content hints and document drafting pause while an independent attempt is open. The assessed judgment must be yours.

IS THIS THE RIGHT NEXT COURSE?

For people who already audit—and now need to review AI-assisted work.

No coding is required. Fictional records and the applicable exercise requirements are supplied; you do not need to upload company records to complete the course.

A good fit if you…

  • Review evidence for internal or supplier audits.
  • Already use AI to extract, summarize or draft—or are deciding where it is appropriate.
  • Need a consistent review method you can explain to an audit lead or auditee.
  • Have basic auditor training or equivalent practical experience.

Choose different training if you need…

  • Your first complete internal auditor course.
  • A clause-by-clause standards interpretation or an ISO transition course.
  • Authorization to audit, professional auditor certification or ISO accreditation.
  • An AI tool that decides conformity or signs off findings for you.

HOW THE LEARNING WORKS

Practise the method. Then show you can use it independently.

Plan around 3.5–4 hours of study, with additional time as needed for practice, assessment and any revisions. Study at your own pace; the course has no countdown.

STEP 1

Learn, make a decision, reflect.

Each module combines a guided lesson, a practical lab and coached reflection. Seven interactive narrated explainers include captions and transcripts, so you can listen or read.

STEP 2

Work through realistic friction.

Practise on fictional registers and work records with incomplete coverage and conflicting information. Build the six records rather than just reading example prompts.

STEP 3

Apply it to a different packet.

One of three independent case variants covers calibration, competence or receiving evidence. Your written evidence and reasoning go to human review; the exam checks your knowledge separately.

WHY PAY FOR A COURSE?

A prompt can produce a summary. You need a review method.

If you already audit competently, C12 addresses the extra review work introduced when AI helps prepare the evidence summary.

What you needWhat C12 provides
More than an explanation of AI risk

Repeated decisions on supplied audit records, followed by a different independent case.

More than an AI-generated answer

A traceable workflow for checking the original evidence, naming uncertainty and retaining human judgment.

More than a blank template

Six linked records built through practical labs, with Coach Q available during practice.

More than a completion click

Required practice and reflections, a human-reviewed case and a separately passed exam before certificate eligibility.

This course provides structured practice and assessment. It does not guarantee faster audits, fewer findings, a promotion or acceptance by a particular employer or certification body.

WHAT THE COURSE IS BUILT ON

Auditing guidance, applied to the decisions AI creates.

Read the free lesson, inspect the requirements below and decide whether the approach fits your work.

Source-grounded boundaries.

Relevant guidance in ISO 19011:2026 informs the treatment of evidence, sampling, verification, findings and conclusions. NIST’s AI risk guidance informs the checks on AI-generated content. Course safeguards are described as safeguards, rather than invented ISO requirements.

Original practice. Human judgment.

The people, organizations and records in the exercises are fictional. The method keeps the applicable criteria, evidence and human evaluation together. Licensed standards are not reproduced or included with your purchase.

HOW YOU EARN THE CREDENTIAL

Earn it by showing your reasoning.

Complete required labs and coached module reflections. Pass a human-reviewed case at 16/20 and six decisions at 10/12, with no unresolved critical error. Pass the 30-question exam at 24/30.

Three exam attempts; a 24-hour wait follows an unsuccessful exam attempt. No countdown. Coach Q provides navigation only during independent assessment, and document drafting pauses while an attempt is open.

The verifiable certificate records assessed course completion. It is not auditor certification, ISO accreditation or operational authority.
