Check an AI incident summary
The fictional assistant turns hallway blame into an incident claim. Compare its summary with the original records and replace unsupported statements with observed facts and open questions.
AI at work · Troubleshoot Problems and Manage Exceptions
Investigate unexpected results in AI-assisted and automated work. Check an AI-generated incident summary against original records, challenge unsupported explanations, and build an evidence-linked recovery recommendation for the authorized owner.
Try the course first
Start the real first lesson with Coach Q. Investigate a fictional incident, distinguish observed facts from blame, and decide what evidence you need next.
Enter your name, work email and phone, then verify your email. No payment card is required. Use the supplied fictional records; no employer data is needed.
The workplace problem
A duplicate message is blamed on an operator. A restart appears to help. The ticket closes, but the failure path was never retested and held work still waits.
The consequences can include repeated customer contacts, inconsistent records, avoidable rework and a recovery decision nobody can later explain.
Separate the symptom from its explanation. Contain only within authority, ask for evidence that separates alternatives, and make the next decision clear.
The goal is a defensible investigation and recovery recommendation. The course cannot supply missing access, repair an unsuitable system or replace the employer’s approved procedures.
Where AI fits
The fictional assistant turns hallway blame into an incident claim. Compare its summary with the original records and replace unsupported statements with observed facts and open questions.
Trace duplicate notices, timeouts and retries. Test competing explanations under approved conditions instead of assuming that the AI, an operator or the network caused the problem.
Ask for evidence-focused guidance during practice. An AI checking its own summary is not independent evidence. You verify the sources and keep the decision with the authorized human owner.
Worked example · all records fictional
Each request should create one notice. Server A produced seven extra notices: 65 − 58 = 7, about 12.1 extra notices per 100 requests. Server B shows no excess in this record.
This does not establish seven affected people, the rate among timed-out requests, or a cause. Version, request trace and operating conditions still matter.
A timeout can occur after a side effect. A stable key works only with correct application handling. Ten successful tests do not prove perfect reliability, and normal-case success alone does not cover timeout or repeated-retry behavior. The decision also needs authority, backlog handling and proportionate monitoring.
What you will make
Output 1
Separate the observed result, expected behavior, extent, source and unverified explanation. Request the permitted response and record when it actually took effect.
Output 2
Choose records that distinguish explanations. Compare affected and unaffected cases, preserve originals and request only relevant permitted data.
Output 3
Write competing explanations, different predictions and evidence that would weaken each one. Keep untested links visible.
Output 4
Propose an owner-authorized sandbox test with synthetic inputs, controlled conditions, predicted results and an explicit stop rule.
Output 5
Update the conclusion when a result conflicts with it. Separate supported mechanism, contributing conditions, tested scope and uncertainty.
Output 6
Retest the failure path, reconcile affected and held work, identify the resumption approver and justify monitoring from risk and exposure.
Each output has a downloadable CSV worksheet and a matching Course Hub document tool. Use the supplied fictional records; before workplace use, verify the real procedure, data permission and actual authority.
How the practice works
Thirty lab activities and six required coached reflections lead into an independent case and final exam. Existing contrasting explanations and recovery decisions stay visible. You practise changing your mind when the evidence changes.
The AI quality and compliance colleague asks which record supports your statement, which observation weakens your hypothesis and who can authorize your next step. It supports your reasoning; you check sources and retain responsibility.
Complete a fresh case variant and six reasoned decisions, with human case review. Pass one 30-question exam. During an independent case or exam, Coach Q provides navigation only and document drafting pauses.
If authority, safe testing or recovery evidence is missing, a bounded hold with a clear escalation can be stronger than a confident restart. You are assessed on the reasoning and safe decision, not speed or a preferred catchphrase.
Six modules
Distinguish containment, correction, diagnosis and corrective action. Check an AI-drafted summary against the records, then practise a factual first report and a permitted containment request.
Output: Incident and containment report. Complete the coached reflection before the independent assessment.
Compare affected and unaffected records. Choose a focused request, check time/version context and preserve a traceable evidence trail. Treat AI confidence and staff opinion as claims, not independent evidence.
Output: Evidence request plan. Complete the coached reflection before the independent assessment.
Use cause trees and why questions as hypothesis aids. Write distinct predictions and a result that would weaken your favorite explanation.
Output: Hypothesis ledger. Complete the coached reflection before the independent assessment.
Compare tests by the information they provide and the consequence they could create. Specify authority, synthetic data and a stop condition.
Output: Safe test plan. Complete the coached reflection before the independent assessment.
Revise an explanation after contradictory evidence. Check counts, denominators, tested scope and the limits of a small successful sample.
Output: Cause assessment. Complete the coached reflection before the independent assessment.
Retest normal and failure paths, reconcile backlog, plan proportionate monitoring and assign follow-up with evidence for closure.
Output: Recovery and handoff record. Complete the coached reflection before the independent assessment.
Audience and boundaries
No programming prerequisite. Course 04 can help with measurement but is optional.
All procedures, people and incident records are fictional. DSP-PAUSE-01 is a teaching example. Real pallet holds, system changes, equipment actions and resumption decisions require current approved procedures and authorized qualified roles.
Two weeks is an example monitoring window, not a universal rule. Duration and exposure must suit the actual risk. This course is not a machinery, safety isolation, cybersecurity response or professional certification qualification.
Why structured practice
Free videos can explain troubleshooting concepts. This package adds connected records, contrasting responses, immediate practice feedback, six work products, guarded AI support, a fresh independent case with human review and a versioned final exam.
Course Hub combines the documents with a study plan, focus logs and an application tracker so you can plan a specific next use. Those tools support work; saved plans and focus time do not establish competence or business results.
The intended benefit is a better-supported investigation and clearer recovery handoff. The course provides practice and assessment; it does not establish a workplace result. No incident reduction, savings, career or revenue result is promised.
