A unit changes.
Twenty becomes sixty-eight. Is that heat, or Celsius becoming Fahrenheit?
MAINTENANCE & CONNECTED SYSTEMS
Learn to question the signal, compare the records and hand the right evidence to the right person.
A practical course for supervisors, quality teams and maintenance coordinators who need to understand a connected system without guessing at the fault.
Six modules • about five hours including independent work (planning estimate) • fictional cases • records-based awareness
THE PROBLEM
Twenty becomes sixty-eight. Is that heat, or Celsius becoming Fahrenheit?
A reporting gap looks like a production collapse.
A vendor's assumed savings hide review effort and implementation costs.
Build the habit of asking what a number represents before turning it into a maintenance recommendation.
WHAT YOU TAKE AWAY
Purpose and permitted scope. Keep sources, open questions and the actual owner visible.
Measurement purpose and source ID. Keep sources, open questions and the actual owner visible.
Expected versus observed behavior and scope. Keep sources, open questions and the actual owner visible.
Asset function and failure consequences. Keep sources, open questions and the actual owner visible.
Baseline failures/year and cost/failure. Keep sources, open questions and the actual owner visible.
Approved change ID and scope. Keep sources, open questions and the actual owner visible.
The editable toolkit includes local drafts, JSON backup, CSV export, printing and a sensitivity calculator. Use only facts you are permitted to handle. Every draft still needs human verification.
TRY IT • FICTIONAL EXAMPLE
Matched one-hour records from fictional Line 2:
Physical count • cartons
Controller count • cartons
Dashboard • cartons/hour
The AI draft says: “Throughput fell. Replace the drive motor.”
The supplied physical and controller counts agree for this period. The reporting view differs. That supports checking the reporting interfaces and time basis before recommending replacement. It does not prove the gateway is defective or establish that the machine is safe. Ask the qualified owner for matched source records and relevant change evidence.
This is one bounded fictional period, not a real production result or a customer testimonial.
LEARN BY MAKING THE CALL
Explore ten illustrative scenes, system chains, charts, tables and source cards. Compare what is shown with what is actually supported.
Classify, match, calculate, trace claims and explain your reasoning. Six coached reflections help transfer each lesson into a usable record.
Seven original short videos and four interactive explainers with recorded synthetic narration. Video captions and transcripts are included.
Coach Q is your AI quality and compliance colleague for practice: it helps you ask better evidence questions. Independent assessments receive controls clarification only.
THE SIX-MODULE PATH
Follow a physical event through sensor, controller, gateway and reporting interfaces.
Guided practice → hands-on record → coached reflection.
Reconcile units, intervals, quality, timestamps and missing data.
Guided practice → hands-on record → coached reflection.
Compare hypotheses and prepare a bounded request for qualified review.
Guided practice → hands-on record → coached reflection.
Compare reactive, scheduled, condition-informed and predictive claims.
Guided practice → hands-on record → coached reflection.
Test optimistic and lower-benefit assumptions, recurring costs and unknown implementation.
Guided practice → hands-on record → coached reflection.
Check versions, comparisons, open gates and actual acceptance authority.
Guided practice → hands-on record → coached reflection.
YOUR COURSE HUB
Break the work into sessions and keep track of study effort.
Open six manual records, save a draft and export your work. No automatic invention of equipment facts or approvals.
Record a planned use and later distinguish actual evidence from an estimated benefit.
ASSESSMENT & SCOPE
Complete the required labs and reflections, a 30-question exam and an independent case with a human review. The exam has three versions, five questions per module, an 80% pass mark, three attempts and a 24-hour cooldown after an unsuccessful attempt.
The independent case is judged against the published rubric and critical-error rules. Completion depends on the actual engine gates and reviewer decision. A course certificate does not confer trade competence, a professional maintenance credential, equipment-work permission or return-to-service authority.
Best fit: people who need to interpret maintenance information and coordinate a clear handoff. It does not replace technician training, hazardous-energy procedures, manufacturer instructions or your site's authorization process.
THE COMPLETE PACKAGE
Your course fee includes the lessons, reusable tools, practice support and assessment pathway below.
QMS-assigned component value estimates; not separate selling prices or verified market comparisons. Each component is counted once. The certificate is included with assessment and requires successful completion.
One learner. Access, refund and review terms are below.
Enrollment opens your course and its included tools.
BEFORE YOU ENROLL
Course access and review: Ongoing online course and practice-coach access under the Academy terms; downloaded worksheets remain available for internal use. A three-day refund window from purchase, requested through QMS Learning support. Will Trikha is the specialist marker, with a five-business-day review target and one case resubmission after feedback.
Free lesson: try the first guided lesson using the Academy's verified preview pathway. It requires name, email and phone followed by email verification, without payment.
Managers: use the six records to agree on a small, permitted application and its actual evidence owner. Discuss team access with Will before assigning seats. No implementation consulting or site-specific engineering service is included.
QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
No specialist credential is assumed. Basic arithmetic and willingness to compare records are helpful. Technical work remains with qualified authorized people.
Only when you have permission and the data is appropriate for the tool. Use fictional or de-identified information when permission is uncertain. Do not upload restricted plant information.
No. Practice coaching supports questions and verification. It does not inspect equipment, establish a fault or approve a maintenance action.
No. The calculator makes assumptions visible. Actual results depend on failure modes, detection, response capability, costs and evidence.
Public NIST, DOE, NASA and OSHA sources; official MathWorks video transcripts; vendor documentation on historian behavior; and explicitly fictional records. The course source register separates primary evidence from practitioner anecdotes.
Map the system. Check the measurement. Compare explanations. Challenge the cost assumptions. Preserve the actual acceptance evidence.
Revisit the fictional exampleFull name, email and phone, followed by email verification. No payment card is needed. Your verified profile opens the first guided lesson only.
