Our owner wants a 2026 quality manual template. Do we need it?
No. The 2026 edition adds no mandatory documents and still doesn't require a quality manual. Start with the new 4.2 step instead.
Sound familiar?
If you own quality at an ISO 9001 company, you've heard these.
The registrar brought up 2026. Nobody here knows what changed.
Vendor emails say rewrite the manual. The published text doesn't ask for that. ISO 9001:2026 Transition sorts what's new from what's only reworded, and you build your gap register and a dated plan as you learn.
I got handed internal audits because I'm good with details.
Details help. Method is what makes a finding hold. ISO 9001 Internal Auditor gives you a risk-based program, the "show me" question that turns a statement into evidence, and findings written as requirement, evidence and gap.
Our audits find nothing. Then the registrar finds three things.
An audit that reads the binder finds nothing. ISO 9001 Internal Auditor has you follow the work instead: the traveler, the gauge in the operator's hand, the NCR log. You start on Walt's traveler, a course case, before your own floor.
Same problem, new operator name, every quarter.
When the corrective action names a person, the cause is still sitting in the process. Root Cause Analysis and CAPA takes you from containment to a cause you can prove, and you set the effectiveness check before the fix goes in.
What it does for you
Be the one they call when the auditor has questions.
The answer when 2026 comes up
When the owner forwards the vendor email, you're the one who knows what changed and what didn't, clause by clause, with a dated plan to show for it.
Findings that hold in the closing meeting
Requirement, evidence and gap, with record numbers anyone can check. Findings like that make you the one management calls when something slips, not the person with the clipboard.
Fixes that hold, on the record
Corrective actions closed on measured data, not a training roster, and an Apply at work log you can export for your performance review. Each course ends with a certificate anyone can verify.
No course can promise you a raise or a title. What you'll have is the skill, the work to show for it and a certificate anyone can verify. That's what those conversations run on.
Why it matters
ISO 9001 is how you keep the customer, not just the certificate.
A 2008 UC Berkeley and Harvard study of nearly 1,000 California companies put the benefit of adopting ISO 9001 at roughly 10% increases in sales, against matched companies that didn't adopt.
For a small or mid-size manufacturer, the certificate is often the price of getting on a customer's approved supplier list. Keeping the customer takes more. Internal audits that follow the work and corrective actions that remove the cause are how the system earns its keep between registrar visits.
And the standard just changed. Your certification body will audit you against the 2026 text during the transition, and your 2015 certificate stays valid through it. The new work is a short list: the new 4.2 step, culture and ethics in 5.1.1, risks split from opportunities, objectives on every audit plan.
The full path
Learn the changes, audit to them, fix what you find.
Start with what the 2026 edition changed, so you know what your next audit will test. Then audit, then fix what the audit turns up. Each course stands alone, so start wherever your job needs you.
-
Step 1 · Know what changed
ISO 9001:2026 Transition
Sort every clause against 2015, from the new 4.2 step to culture and ethics in 5.1.1, risks split from opportunities and objectives on every audit plan. Build the file on Harbor Ridge, a fictional machine shop, then on your QMS.
You walk out with a gap register sorted clause by clause, the climate decision on record, a culture and ethics evidence plan and a dated transition plan.

Step 2 · Audit it
ISO 9001 Internal Auditor
Read clauses 4 to 10 the way an auditor does, then run a full audit from a risk-based program to the closing meeting. It's taught on ISO 9001:2015, and the method carries straight over to 2026.
You walk out with a risk-based audit schedule, a turtle diagram of your own process, finding statements that hold up and a closing meeting plan.
- About 15.5 hours

-
Step 3 · Fix what you find
Root Cause Analysis & CAPA (AS13000)
Work the aerospace 8D from containment to closure. Test each candidate cause against data with fishbone, 5-Why and Is/Is-Not, then prove the fix worked before you close it. ISO 9001 10.2 asks for both.
You walk out with an 8D with a problem statement built on data, a 5-Why with evidence at every step, an effectiveness check and a 90-day plan for your CAPA system.

Not like training used to be
Short, hands-on, built around you. And the coach stays.
Training used to mean days in a classroom or hours of video. Here are real screens from this path: short sessions where you make the call, a plan that fits your week, and an expert in your pocket in every course.
Coach Q · from ISO 9001:2026 Transition
No. The 2026 edition adds no mandatory documents and still doesn't require a quality manual.
Your time is better spent on the six new requirements, starting with the 4.2 step: deciding which interested party requirements your QMS takes on.
Want a two-line note for your owner that says that?
Coaching, not decisions. You make the call. Comes with every course, no renewal fee.

Study plan · Your personal trainer
Tell it your goal date. It builds sessions around your week and shows each day whether you're on plan, so the course actually gets finished.

Focus timer · 25 minutes, no tab-hopping
One click starts a focused session, and it follows you from lesson to lesson. Short sessions are how busy people finish.

Apply at work · Proof your boss can see
Log what you tried, what happened and how you know. Record your manager's sign-off with their name and date, and export the log for your performance review.
Built around you
Give the study plan your goal date and it sizes each session to your week. Coach Q works on the facts you bring from your own job, so the examples are yours, not a textbook's.
Hands-on, not hours of video
Lessons are built around calls you make: read the record, sort the evidence, catch the mistake. Checks and labs score you on the spot, and your first win comes in the first few minutes of lesson 1.
Stays with you. Stays current.
Coach Q doesn't leave when you finish. It comes with your course, no subscription and no renewal fee, so it's there for your transition audit, and the one after that. When the rules behind this course change, we update the lessons and the coach's setup, and we move the coach to newer AI models as we test them.
What you walk out with
Working documents for your own company, not notes.

Who built it

Will Trikha
Founder and CEO, QMS Learning · Third-party registrar auditor
Will Trikha is a third-party registrar auditor with more than 20 years in aerospace and quality. He wrote these courses from the requirements and from the floor: what changed in the 2026 text, what an auditor asks, which records to pull, and what a corrective action needs to hold up.
He's COO of PTX Defense, an AS9100D-certified aerospace manufacturer, and AS9100D carries the full ISO 9001 text, so he lives with these requirements as a supplier. He founded QMS Leader, which implements quality management systems for manufacturers. Organizations he has trained include Alva Manufacturing, Paramount Extrusions and Global Airtech.

Straight answers.
Do I have to take them all?
No. Each course stands on its own, with its own certificate, and lesson 1 is free on each one. The path is the order we'd take them in.
Which one should I start with?
If your registrar has brought up 2026, start with the transition. If you've just been handed internal audits, start with ISO 9001 Internal Auditor. Root Cause Analysis and CAPA fits whenever the same problem keeps coming back.
Do we have to rewrite our QMS for 2026?
No. The 2026 edition adds no mandatory documents and still doesn't require a quality manual. About half the clause rows need no new work. The transition course shows you the short list that does, so you don't rebuild what already works.
Does the internal auditor course teach ISO 9001:2026?
It teaches ISO 9001:2015, the edition you're audited to until your company transitions, and the audit method carries straight over. What 2026 changed for audits, like objectives on every audit plan, is in the transition course.
Is this an accredited certification?
No. Each course ends with a QMS Learning certificate anyone can verify at academy.qmslearning.com/verify. It isn't a lead auditor credential, and it doesn't certify your company. Your certification body audits and certifies your QMS.
Training a team?
Open any course on the path and pick how many people before you check out. Five or more people get 10% off every seat, applied at checkout. Each person gets their own login, private coach, study plan and certificate. More than 50 people, or need an invoice instead? Email will@qmslearning.com for a quote.
How long do I keep access?
The lessons are yours for life, and Coach Q comes with your course and stays with you after you finish. There's no subscription or renewal fee.
Does the course keep up when the rules change?
Yes, for the edition it teaches. When the rules or guidance behind this course change, we update the lessons and the coach's setup, and you get the update at no extra charge. When a new edition replaces the standard, we point you to the transition training. Your conversations with Coach Q aren't used to train AI models.
